Old Speckled Hen has unveiled two new additions to its portfolio, continuing its strategy of catering to evolving consumer tastes with innovative brews. The brand’s latest offerings include the launch of Old Dandy Hen, a citrus-infused pale ale, and the 2025 edition of its premium ale, Old Master Hen. Both products are available in Morrisons stores from this week, with Old Master Hen also set to launch in Waitrose in early June.
Old Dandy Hen is a 3.4% ABV pale ale designed for consumers seeking lower-alcohol options without compromising on flavour. The brew features bright citrus and subtle floral notes, offering a refreshing alternative for those moderating their alcohol intake. Available in 500ml bottles exclusively at Morrisons, the ale will retail for a limited time at an RRP of £1.
This release builds on the success of last year’s Old Session Hen, reinforcing the brand’s presence in the growing category of lower-ABV beers. With moderation on the rise among drinkers, brews like Old Dandy Hen cater to a market looking for flavourful but lighter options.
Alongside the new pale ale, Old Master Hen returns for its third annual release. The 7% ABV premium ale features a revised recipe for 2025, offering a complex profile with notes of spice, citrus, warm toffee, and malt. Crafted by Greene King’s Head Brewer, Jack Palmer, the ale is bottle-conditioned for maturation, allowing further fermentation that enhances its depth over time.
Positioned as an ideal gift for beer enthusiasts, Old Master Hen is also packaged in 500ml bottles and will be available at Morrisons and Waitrose for a limited time.
The Old Speckled Hen range has seen significant growth in recent years, becoming the leading traditional ale brand by value in the UK off-trade market. This expansion has been driven by a commitment to tradition alongside a willingness to respond to shifting consumer preferences.
Kirsten Alexander, Brand Manager for the Old Speckled Hen family, said:
“We’ve continued to expand the Old Speckled Hen brand to bring our loyal drinkers a wider variety of styles, while also welcoming new consumers who are looking for different beers to explore.
It’s always exciting to see a beer come to life from just a concept to finally hitting shelves and being enjoyed by consumers. We work closely with our retail partners to ensure we are creating something that works for their customers and the Hen family continues to grow its portfolio as we continue to introduce new ale styles and align with drinkers’ preferences.”
Old Dandy Hen and the 2025 edition of Old Master Hen are now available in 500ml bottles in Morrisons stores nationwide.
