SEATTLE, WA — Flying Lion Brewing is set to welcome summer with the return of its Light Beer Fest, a three-day celebration highlighting crisp, easy-drinking brews. The event, now in its second year, will take place from June 27 to June 29 at the brewery’s Columbia City location.
Timed to coincide with the year’s longest days, the festival embraces the season’s bright energy with a diverse selection of lighter-style beers. “During the lightest time of the year comes a celebration of the lightest of beers,” said Dylan Alrich of Flying Lion Brewing. “On the heels of our 10th Annual Dark Beer Fest, we decided to balance the cosmic scales with three days of all light beer to mark the beginning of summer.”
Each day of the festival will feature a completely new lineup of light beers from Flying Lion and an array of guest breweries, including Bizarre Brewing, Machine House Brewery, Seapine Brewing, The Good Society Brewery, Bellevue Brewing, and Four Generals Brewing. Styles on offer will include Witbier, Kölsch, Pilsner, Saison, and Pale Ale.
No tickets or reservations are required to attend. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
A centerpiece of the event is a special collaborative release between Flying Lion and Formula Brewing. The beer, dubbed Italo Disco, is an Italian Pilsner described as delivering “bright Mediterranean garden aromas from the late dry-hop fade into a crisp, light cracker finish.”
Returning to the taps this year is CassavaNova, a lager brewed with real cassava. Originally developed in partnership with Lowercase Brewing for the inaugural Light Beer Fest in 2024, the beer has been revived for this year’s festivities.
Guests arriving early can enjoy free soft pretzel knots from Columbia City Bakery starting at 10 a.m., while supplies last. Festival-exclusive merchandise, including Light Beer Fest T-shirts, will also be available for purchase.
