To mark its 100th distilling season, St Agnes Distillery has released the St Agnes XXO 50 Year Old Reserve, a rare and luxurious brandy that is now the oldest and most expensive spirit ever produced in Australia.

This ultra-premium release is crafted from brandy distilled between 1953 and 1972. It has been aged at the historic Riverland Distillery and represents five generations of dedication from Australia’s oldest family-owned distillery.

A Toast to the Past and Future

Richard Angove, joint general manager of St Agnes Distillery, described the release as a landmark moment:

“This whisky is both a tribute to the past 100 years and a toast to the future. It’s more than just a brandy—it’s the embodiment of everything we stand for.”

A Century of Legacy

The distillery was founded in 1925 by Carl Angove and has become a symbol of excellence in Australian spirits. While renowned for its brandy, St Agnes also produces other premium labels, including Blind Tiger Organic Gin and Camborne Single Malt Whisper.

Richard Angove reflected on the vision of his grandfather, Thomas Angove:

“When my grandfather decided to distill premium spirit in very small packages, he wasn’t thinking about today or tomorrow – he was thinking about decades from now. He believed it had the potential to be truly extraordinary, and it has. We watched, waited, and let time play out. The result is this amazing product that we can’t wait to share with you.”

Official Launch and Exclusive Tasting

The 50-Year-Old Brandy was officially launched at the St Agnes Centenary Celebrations earlier this month. The event, held at the National Wine Centre, also introduced the XO 30 Year Old Centenary Reserve.

This celebration featured the only public tasting scheduled for the XXO 50-Year-Old, making it a rare opportunity for connoisseurs to experience the spirit first-hand.

Centennial Events Across South Australia

In addition to the release of this historic brandy, St Agnes will host a series of centenary events over the coming months. Celebrations will take place in Adelaide and Renmark, including festivities at St Agnes Church, which is also marking its 100th year.
