Ben Lomond Gin, owned by the Loch Lomond Group, officially debuted in 2019. The brand has been named the official gin of The Open Championship starting in 2023. This year, the prestigious golf tournament will take place at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland from July 13 to 20.
To mark this special occasion, Ben Lomond has crafted a limited edition London Dry Gin. This new release features botanicals carefully handpicked from golf courses in County Antrim. Ingredients such as wild carrot seeds, sea buckthorn, and hawthorn leaves give the gin a unique local flavor.
A Gin Inspired by Nature and Golf
John Grieveson, Chief Marketing Officer of Ben Lomond Gin, expressed pride in the new release. He said, “We are proud to launch the 2025 Special Edition to celebrate the 153rd Open at Royal Portrush. This world-renowned course perfectly reflects the wild, natural beauty that inspires Ben Lomond Gin.”
Grieveson added, “This year’s Special Edition blends our signature rich flavors with hand-foraged botanicals from Portrush’s rugged landscape. It captures the coastal character and adventurous spirit that define both the dish and our gin.”
Flavor Profile and Availability
The Ben Lomond Gin 2025 edition is 43% ABV and features a coastal character. Its aroma highlights notes of pine, light florals, and citrus. On the palate, drinkers can expect flavors of anise, earthy spices, sweet carrot, warm nuts, and a subtle tartness.
The limited edition gin is now available for £35 (approximately $47) for a 700ml bottle. A set including two branded glasses costs £45 (around $61).
Continuing a Successful Partnership
Grieveson emphasized the brand’s ongoing relationship with The Open. “We are honored to continue our partnership for a third year as the Official Gin of The Open. We look forward to raising a toast to the players and fans as the world’s best golfers compete on the legendary Royal Portrush course.”
Loch Lomond Group Expands its Portfolio
Earlier this year, the Loch Lomond Group launched two limited edition single malt whiskies to celebrate The Open. Recently, the company also entered the American whiskey market with the acquisition of New York Distilling Co., signaling further growth and diversification.
