French authorities have issued a nationwide recall of several bottles of red wine after discovering the potential presence of glass fragments, posing a serious health risk to consumers.
The recall, announced by Rappel Conso — the French government’s consumer alert platform — affects bottles of Cellier des Dauphins Prestige 2023. According to officials, a technical incident during production led to small pieces of glass entering some bottles, rendering the wine unsafe for consumption.
The affected products were distributed widely across France through major retailers, including Leclerc, Intermarché, Carrefour, Casino, Metro, Franprix, and U stores. The recall applies to bottles sold between January 16 and May 16, 2025.
Consumers are urged to check the batch number on the neck of the bottle. The specific batches involved in the recall are L25016, L25056, L25083, and L25084. Authorities advise that these bottles should not be consumed and should be returned to the point of purchase.
Officials emphasized that the recall is a precautionary measure aimed at safeguarding public health. No injuries or incidents have been reported to date. Both producers and retailers are cooperating with regulators to ensure the immediate withdrawal of affected bottles and to notify customers of the potential hazard.
The recall underscores the vigilance of French regulatory agencies in maintaining high standards of food and beverage safety throughout the country.
