Queensland’s Milton Distillery has introduced a new line of premium gins and vodkas made from waste ingredients like banana and citrus peels. This innovative approach aims to reduce waste while delivering high-quality spirits.
Founder Develops Unique Technology
Founder Alexander Bell created a special technology that uses enzymes to turn fruit peels into fermentable sugars. This process is key to producing the new range. Bell said, “I just launched the brand three weeks ago and have already sold over 1,000 bottles.” The positive consumer response shows strong demand for sustainable spirits.
Introducing A’Peel Vodka and Gin
The first product, A’Peel Vodka, is crafted by carbon filtering the spirit through recycled coconut shells. This method gives the vodka a smooth and sharp character. Afterward, the vodka is redistilled with a continuous steam injection system to make A’Peel Gin, an Australian dry gin with a light citrus flavor.
Distinctive Packaging Enhances the Brand
Both A’Peel Gin and Vodka feature bottles designed by Melbourne’s Studio Guild, specialists in design and packaging. Bell explains the importance of packaging in branding: “Storytelling through packaging helps create a brand story that sticks in people’s minds. Take the extra step and pick up the bottle, feel the embossed peel and the detail on the label. Every element from bottle to cork reinforces the product story.”
Bell adds, “We created something in A’Peel that breaks down barriers, cuts through the noise, and looks amazing – I couldn’t ask for anything better.”
Availability and Pricing
A’Peel Gin and Vodka each have an alcohol content of 38% ABV. They are available now at a suggested retail price of $59. This launch marks a significant step toward sustainability in the spirits industry, combining environmental responsibility with premium quality.
