St Agnes Distillery, one of Australia’s oldest continuously operating distilleries, has introduced a limited-edition brandy to celebrate its 100th anniversary. The XXO 50 Year Old Exceptional Reserve, priced at $4800 per bottle, marks a significant milestone in the company’s storied history.
The XXO 50 Year Old Reserve, distilled from brandy produced in the early 1970s, is one of the most expensive brandies of its kind in Australia. Only 500 bottles of this exceptional release will be made available to the public.
A New Legacy: The XO 30 Year Old Centenary Reserve
In addition to the XXO 50 Year Old Reserve, St Agnes will also release the XO 30 Year Old Centenary Reserve. While slightly younger, this brandy is also described as “exceptional” and will serve as a special complement to the XXO release.
Both expressions are part of the distillery’s centennial celebrations, which honor nearly a century of brandy craftsmanship.
St Agnes Distillery: A Century of Tradition
Based in Renmark, South Australia, St Agnes Distillery has been producing fine brandy since 1925. The distillery, which is still family-owned and operated, has become a symbol of longevity and quality in the Australian spirits industry.
The distillery’s barrel hall, where the brandy is handcrafted and aged, is a vital part of the family’s tradition. Richard Angove, a fifth-generation member of the Angove distilling family, spoke to InDaily about the significance of the Exceptional Reserve. He emphasized that the brandy has been aging for decades, even before his birth.
“It’s more than just a brandy,” Richard said. “It’s been in the barrel for a long, long time.”
