Tormore Distillery, located in Scotland’s Speyside region, has released its first official whiskies under the ownership of Elixir Distillers. The launch introduces three 10-year-old single malts as part of the new Blueprint series. Each expression showcases a different cask style and reflects the distillery’s vision for the future.
A Trio of Distinct Flavours
The Blueprint range includes three bottlings: Bourbon Barrel, Cream Sherry, and Toasted Barrel. All three are 10-year-old single malts bottled at 48% ABV and priced at £59.95 ($81). Each release is limited to 1,500 bottles and will be available worldwide from June.
Bourbon Barrel
The Bourbon Barrel edition is crafted from first-fill bourbon casks. This whisky highlights the core style Tormore aims to develop in future releases. It features flavours of caramel, coconut, pear, nectarine, walnut, custard, biscuit, and peach tart.
Cream Sherry
The Cream Sherry variant is matured in Spanish cream sherry casks. These casks blend dry wines like Oloroso with sweeter wines such as Pedro Ximenez. The result is a single malt with rich notes of dried fruit and orange peel.
Toasted Barrel
The Toasted Barrel expression uses American oak barrels that have been specially toasted and charred. The casks are prepared to Tormore’s precise specifications, enhancing the whisky’s complexity and depth.
A Message from the Distillery
Polly Logan, Distillery Manager at Tormore, expressed pride in the launch.
“We are really excited to be bringing Tormore Blueprint to the market. This is our first step in showcasing our premium spirits and a sneak preview of future Tormore whiskies – we are very proud of this whisky.”
A Return to Traditional Methods
Tormore Distillery was founded in 1959 with a focus on producing elegant and fruity spirits. Over the decades, it has passed through several owners, experiencing both industrial and community-driven operations.
Since being acquired in 2022 by Elixir Distillers, the distillery has returned to more traditional production techniques. These methods are aimed at boosting the spirit’s fruity aromas and improving overall quality.
Building Toward the Future
The Blueprint Series is intended to lay the foundation for Tormore’s upcoming 2026 relaunch. The new whiskies aim to introduce drinkers to the core characteristics that will define future single malts from the distillery.
By releasing this trio, Tormore hopes to share its story and values. The whiskies reflect the craftsmanship and care that will shape its future offerings.
