ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Garage Beer, the brewing company co-owned by NFL stars Jason and Travis Kelce, has acquired ownership of the professional arena football team the St. Joseph Goats.
The announcement was made through a press release issued by Garage Beer, stating, “From the beer fridge to the front office, the Goats are now powered by the same crisp, uncomplicated energy that fuels Garage Beer.”
According to Goats President Ted Sweeney, the partnership began as a potential sponsorship conversation. “The more we talked, the more they liked what they heard apparently,” Sweeney said. “And now we have gotten to this point, which is incredible.”
As part of the new ownership, the Goats’ uniforms will feature the Garage Beer branding. Team and beverage merchandise is currently available on Garage Beer’s website and is expected to be listed on the Goats’ official site in the near future.
Garage Beer will also be served at games inside the Civic Arena. “It’s been ordered and it’s a big order,” Sweeney confirmed.
The Goats will open their season on the road Saturday, May 31, against the Ozark Lunkers. Their home debut is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, at the Civic Arena, where they will face the Duluth Harbor Monsters.
“Ultimately, this team—we want to make St. Joseph proud. We want to make the surrounding areas proud,” said Sweeney. “Our end game is to be one of the teams that people think of when they think of arena football.”
