Auckland’s Mt Eden neighborhood is now home to Normanby Fine Wine & Spirits, an experiential concept store that redefines traditional wine and spirits retail. The venue combines a retail shop, wine bar, café, private tasting room, and art-gallery–style interior to deliver an immersive customer experience.
Design by Renowned Wine Expert Liz Wheadon
The store’s design was led by Liz Wheadon, an experienced wine connoisseur and Wine Director at Webb’s. Wheadon has blended charm and functionality across the space. She aimed to create an inviting environment where customers of all tastes and budgets can explore and enjoy wine, spirits, and sake.
Extensive and Exclusive Product Range
Normanby Fine Wine & Spirits offers more than 1,300 selections of wine, spirits, sake, and craft beer. Many of these products are available exclusively at Normanby, reflecting the strong relationships the team has built with producers over the years.
Café, Wine Bar, and Cocktail Lounge
Daytime Café: The in-store café serves specialty coffee, pastries, and light meals.
Evening Bar: From late afternoon, cocktails crafted by former Panacea bartender Theo Tjandra are available, alongside fine wines and spirits.
La Cave: Private Tasting Room
The store features “La Cave,” a private tasting room that seats up to 15 guests. La Cave can host intimate events, bespoke tastings, and private celebrations, offering personalized service and expert guidance.
Art and Furnishings for Sale
Normanby’s interior doubles as an art gallery. Furniture and artwork, carefully selected by The Estate at Webb’s, are on display and available for purchase, adding an extra layer of engagement to the shopping experience.
Plans for National Expansion
Following a successful launch in Mt Eden, Normanby Fine Wine & Spirits plans to roll out its experiential retail concept across New Zealand. The brand aims to bring this fresh approach to wine and spirits shopping to a wider audience.
