KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A new beer garden and restaurant, Two Birds One Stone, is set to officially open its doors on Thursday, June 12, marking another key addition to the growing riverfront district energized by the nearby CPKC Stadium.
The expansive venue, located adjacent to the Origin Hotel, features seating for more than 500 patrons and is operated by the Thrash Group, the hospitality company behind the hotel.
“This is a big beer garden,” said general manager Jerrod Gardiner. “I believe, legally, we can have 530 people down here.”
The establishment will offer nearly two dozen local beer taps, alongside draft wine, cocktails, and a comprehensive bar program. The food menu will center on handheld options and shareable plates, including what Gardiner describes as “an absolutely excellent burger” and creative twists on classic nachos.
Inside, the venue reflects a strong Kansas City identity. Décor includes KC Current-colored patio furniture, a wall covered in local sports pennants and posters, and a large “KC” sign crafted from painted pickleballs.
Despite the excitement, the team faces staffing challenges ahead of opening. Gardiner noted that the business is operating with minimal personnel and is actively hiring servers, bartenders, line cooks, and dishwashers.
“We’re going to be opening on a bare-bones staff,” he said.
An eye-catching feature of the space is a repurposed shipping container on the east side, designed to serve as a stage. Though live performances aren’t scheduled yet, the infrastructure is in place to accommodate musical acts in the future.
Once open, Two Birds One Stone will operate Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., on a first-come, first-served basis.
While the beer garden is ready to welcome guests, construction is still underway on Moonstone, the cocktail lounge located upstairs, with no official opening date announced.
