Translink Partners with Patina Brewing to Launch Transit-Inspired Craft Beer

TransLink has teamed up with Port Coquitlam-based Patina Brewing Company to release a limited-edition craft beer dubbed the “Platform Pilsner.” Inspired by the West Coast Express’s distinctive livery, this pilsner taps into regional pride while helping diversify the transit authority’s revenue.

Local collaboration: Patina Brewing, founded in 2020 and located near major transit hubs, brewed the pilsner using 100% Canadian ingredients, including hops sourced from Alberta and Quebec, using water from the Coquitlam watershed.

Design and production: The vibrant can design, created by TransLink’s in-house creative team, evokes the West Coast Express colour scheme. Only 1,500 four-packs have been released, available at Patina’s brew house and select British Columbia liquor stores.

Statements from leadership: “Thinking outside the gate to generate additional revenue and support a local business,” said TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn. Patina’s Operations Director Sarah Harbord described the beer as “a celebration of the people and communities we serve,” noting that many patrons arrive via transit.

The Platform Pilsner marks TransLink’s latest initiative to forge creative partnerships and reinforce its connection to the Metro Vancouver community. With a modest production run, the transit agency hinted at future collaborations should demand exceed supply.
