Desi Daru Debuts New Signature Serves

by Ivy

Desi Daru, the vodka brand known for blending Indian heritage with British craftsmanship, has launched a new cocktail range that embodies its motto: “Indian in origin, British in birth.” The drinks, which feature both traditional and contemporary flavors, reflect the brand’s cultural fusion and growing presence in the spirits market.

Founded by a Husband-and-Wife Team

The brand was co-founded by Mohit Singh and Aneet Kaur. It officially launched in May 2023 and has quickly risen in prominence. Desi Daru’s mango-flavored vodka won the Vodka Flavour Master title in 2023. Just one year later, the company was honored as Vodka Brand of the Year at the 2024 Spirits Business Awards.

A Cocktail Menu with Cultural Depth

Desi Daru worked with drinks expert Greg Almeida to create a new lineup of cocktails. Almeida described the collaboration as deeply rewarding and said it was crucial to understand Mohit Singh’s vision from the beginning.

“This is my first brand partnership,” Almeida shared. “It was important to listen, understand, and plan. Blending cultures through food and drink is one of my favorite things, and Mohit is passionate about showcasing Indian flavors.”

The result is a menu of cocktails built around Desi Daru’s vodka. The goal was to create drinks that are distinctive and high-quality, but also easy for most people to recreate at home.

“Each cocktail had to be unique, delicious, trendy, and beautiful,” Almeida said. “They each deserve their own moment.”

Highlights from the New Cocktail Menu

The menu includes both classic-inspired and innovative drinks using Desi Daru’s original and mango vodkas. Each cocktail is offered in three levels of complexity: simple, medium, and advanced.

Signature highlights include:

Desi Daru Dry Martini – A refined twist with cardamom bitters and orange peel.

Mango Gimlet – A tropical take using mango vodka, coriander seed syrup, and Cocchi Americano.

Desi & Tonic – A simple, refreshing mix for casual enjoyment.

Paloma with Achari Masala Salt – A playful fusion of tangy grapefruit and spiced salt.

Thandai Desi Lassi – A complex creation with Indian cream, Bénédictine, cardamom bitters, and homemade Indian aromatic powder.

A Partnership Built on Shared Vision

Singh praised Almeida’s dedication to understanding the heart of the Desi Daru brand.

“We’ve always loved seeing how bartenders use our vodka, but this time we wanted a professional to help us build something that represents who we are,” said Singh. “Greg created a menu we’re incredibly proud of.”

The presentation of the cocktails was brought to life by photographer David Leighton and his team. Their visual storytelling captured the essence of each drink.

“David and his team are true professionals,” Singh added. “They showcased these cocktails in a way that feels exciting and authentic.”
