Suffolk – A local brewery has sold out of one of its flagship ales after the beer was named among the best bitters in the UK by The Telegraph.
Suffolk Pride, a core offering from Mauldons Brewery, received national acclaim when The Telegraph included it in a feature highlighting six underappreciated bitters. The paper described the ale as “deep caramel in colour” with a “light body and backnote of digestive biscuits,” complemented by “a faintly sweet caramel flavour” and “a touch of bitterness at the end.” Tasting notes also mentioned “light and refreshing” qualities with hints of banana and raisin on the finish.
The article’s release prompted a surge in demand, resulting in a complete sell-out of the beer at Mauldons Brewery.
This recognition follows recent exposure on national television, where Suffolk Pride was sampled by celebrities Joe Sugg and Prue Leith during an episode of Alan Titchmarsh’s Love Your Weekend. Additionally, the beer secured a bronze medal in the Best British Bitter category at the SIBA Independent Beer Awards.
Charlie Buckle, managing director of Nedging Hall Estate, which owns the brewery, praised the team behind the product.
“I am immensely proud of the team at Mauldons Brewery,” Buckle said. “This is an acknowledgement of the hard work that goes into producing a delicious pint of Suffolk Pride. I am also proud of Suffolk—its heritage, hospitality, and countryside—so to see this recognition for a beer named after the county is brilliant.”
Mauldons Brewery, the oldest brewery in Suffolk, continues to receive attention for its dedication to traditional brewing methods and high-quality ales.
