During her Cowboy Carter Tour, Beyoncé was served a glass of whiskey by a giant, gold-plated robotic arm. Fans did not need to be in the front row to recognize that the spirit poured was SirDavis—Beyoncé’s new whiskey.
Collaboration Behind SirDavis
Last fall, Beyoncé partnered with Moët Hennessy and Master Distiller Dr. Bill Ramsden to create SirDavis. The whiskey’s recipe blends 51% rye with 49% malted barley. It is aged in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The inspiration came from both American distilling history and Beyoncé’s fondness for Japanese sherry-style whiskey.
Whiskey and Music in Tandem
SirDavis serves as the official spirit of the Cowboy Carter Tour. The launch highlights how Beyoncé’s new music—rich with country influences, Americana nods, and whiskey references—pairs naturally with her whiskey brand. Cameron George, SirDavis’s head blender and former Ardbeg brand ambassador, explains that the whiskey and the music are “forever intertwined and connected.”
Inside the Deconstructed Tasting
Last week, George and Ramsden hosted a deconstructed tasting at Legacy Records in New York. The event took place just after Beyoncé’s final five shows at MetLife Stadium on May 29. For George, this was his fifth time attending the tour; it was Ramsden’s first.
Ramsden noted that during his first visit, Beyoncé shared music that would become the Cowboy Carter album’s prototype. “She’s an artist who is full of intention in every medium,” said George. “This whiskey could not exist without reflecting her musical vision.”
Grammy Success and Future Outlook
In February, Cowboy Carter won the Grammy for Album of the Year—Beyoncé’s first win after many nominations. SirDavis aims for similar crossover success. While its blend and finishing methods will appeal to seasoned whiskey drinkers, the brand’s team expects many Beyoncé fans to sample whiskey for the first time. As a result, making SirDavis accessible is a top priority.
