BLANDFORD, DORSET — June 5, 2025 – Hall & Woodhouse, the Dorset-based independent family brewery, will commemorate Founder’s Day on June 8 with the release of a new limited-edition ale: Frank’s Integrity. The chestnut-hued, bottle-conditioned beer carries an ABV of 7% and serves as a tribute to former chairman Frank Woodhouse, a central figure in the brewery’s long history.

Frank’s Integrity marks the third installment in a five-part series of annual Founder’s Day brews leading up to Hall & Woodhouse’s 250th anniversary in 2027. The series is designed to honour the individuals whose leadership and vision have shaped the company since its founding in 1777.

Head brewer Toby Heasman praised Frank Woodhouse’s impact on the business, stating: “Frank Woodhouse spent nearly 60 years working for the family brewery, and his sharp instincts and steady leadership helped to shape the business we have become today. We’re pleased with the beer we’ve created to honour him and his remarkable tenure: a bold, warming ale which reflects his character. We hope customers in our pubs and at home will join us in raising a glass to Frank on or around Founder’s Day.”

Brewed with a blend of Pale Ale, Crystal, and Chocolate malts, Frank’s Integrity offers a warming depth with subtle notes of caramel. English hop varieties—Target, Goldings, and WGV—provide a balanced bitterness and classic finish.

Frank Woodhouse originally trained as a doctor before joining his two elder brothers in the family business. Appointed chairman in 1916, he guided Hall & Woodhouse through significant transitions, including the relocation from Ansty to its present-day headquarters in Blandford. In 1900, his quick actions were credited with saving most of the casks and records from a fire that threatened to destroy the original Ansty site, then known as Hector’s Brewery.

Previous Founder’s Day Releases:

  • 2024: Teamwork – A 9% Stingo Ale commemorating Edward and John Woodhouse, whose complementary leadership styles elevated the brewery during the 1960s.
  • 2023: Jock’s Dedication – A 6.2% strong English ale paying tribute to John ‘Jock’ Woodhouse, a former army officer who joined the brewery in 1962 and served as chairman until 1988.

Founder’s Day has long served as a tradition at Hall & Woodhouse, providing an annual opportunity to reflect on the legacy and values of the individuals who have contributed to the brewery’s enduring success.
