In celebration of Queensland Day on 6 June, Sunshine Coast-based Your Mates Brewing has released a new ginger beer crafted entirely with locally sourced, natural ingredients. The launch aligns with Queensland Premier David Crisafulli’s pledge to honour all things local throughout the year.
The new ginger beer features ginger grown on the Sunshine Coast and offers a low-sugar, flavour-rich alternative to traditional options. Christen McGarry, Co-Founder and Beer Director of Your Mates Brewing, described the beverage as “zingy, balanced, and seriously refreshing,” adding that it embodies the essence of a classic ginger beer — simply made better.
Ahead of the official launch, Premier Crisafulli and Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie visited the brewery to show their support for the local business. During their visit, they met with the Your Mates team, toured the facility, and sampled the new product.
To mark the release, Your Mates Brewing will host a launch party at its Warana headquarters. The event, open to the public and free of charge, will feature live performances from local artists and long-time supporters of the brewery, including Adnan Sevin, Richie Bull, Kurt Is, and McGarry himself.
Matt Hepburn, Co-Founder and Sales Director, described the celebration as “the most Queensland way” to debut the new product. The ginger beer will be served in multiple forms during the event — straight, as a spritzer, or as part of a cocktail.
“This new product has been a long time coming,” Hepburn said. “Our recipe is big on refreshment and packed with flavour. Queenslanders will soon be able to find it at participating bottle shops, including Liquorland, BWS, and Dan Murphy’s statewide.”
