A Commitment to Authenticity, Sustainability, and Innovation
Jon Carson, co-founder and commercial director of Witchmark Distillery, said:
“English whisky is having its moment – bold and innovative, and Witchmark is proud to be part of this exciting movement.”
He added that the distillery was built around core values: authenticity, provenance, traceability, and a strong commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. From the beginning, Witchmark has sourced local grains and crafted its own base spirits. The distillery also uses modern technology to reduce its carbon footprint.
This dedication has earned Witchmark B Corp certification, making it the highest scoring UK distillery in this regard.
Anticipating the First English Single Malt Whisky in 2027
Carson revealed that Witchmark expects to release its first English single malt whisky in 2027. Members of The Witchmark Club get a unique chance to witness this journey firsthand.
He said:
“Through the Witchmark Club, we invite you to join us early – to see the whisky mature, get a sneak peek at special releases and be part of a behind-the-scenes experience. This is a lifetime membership and members will always be able to see the evolution of our distillery and whisky firsthand.”
State-of-the-Art Distilling Capacity
Witchmark is one of the largest distilleries in England by capacity. It operates with a 5,000-litre wash still and a 3,200-litre spirit still. This setup allows for significant production while maintaining quality and craft control.
The distillery’s first single malt whisky is currently maturing, with plans for a 2024 finish. The whisky will be finished in a mix of all-American oak, bourbon, and red wine casks, creating a complex and layered flavour profile.
