MUTTONTOWN, NY — Jericho Cares marked a major milestone with its inaugural cocktail party fundraiser on Wednesday, April 30, at the Muttontown Club, celebrating years of community service and the contributions of a dedicated local leader.
The event honored Hank Grishman, longtime superintendent of the Jericho School District, who is set to retire at the conclusion of the 2024–25 school year. Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold Drucker commended Grishman for his unwavering support of Jericho Cares and his commitment to linking families in need with essential resources through a partnership that dates back to the organization’s founding.
Drucker joined Jericho Cares founder Fran O’Connor in recognizing the group’s recent designation as the charity partner for the Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce for the 2024–25 year.
Founded in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jericho Cares has grown into a robust 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It has established a volunteer-driven network that delivers food, clothing, and other critical supplies to struggling families within a 20-mile radius of Jericho. The organization also supports families in celebrating holidays and special occasions, aiming to bring dignity and joy during challenging times.
“Emerging from an unprecedented global crisis, Jericho Cares has grown during the last five years to become an enduring partner in our regional efforts to combat food insecurity and deliver comfort and resources to families in their hour of need,” said Drucker. “I am proud to support their wonderful philanthropic efforts and grateful that their inaugural cocktail party celebrating my good friend Hank Grishman — a man who embodies the ethos of Jericho Cares in all he does — was such a tremendous success.”
The fundraiser highlighted both the organization’s impact and its future ambitions, as it continues to expand its reach and support across Nassau County and beyond.
