The new beer, named Chimay 175, is described by the brewery as “a blonde beer, both lively and refined, brewed in the spirit of monastic tradition.” It contains 6.5% alcohol by volume and, like the rest of Chimay’s offerings, will carry the Authentic Trappist Product label.

This designation confirms that the beer is brewed within the abbey under the supervision of monks, with the majority of the profits directed toward charitable purposes.

While the launch celebrates a significant historical milestone for the abbey, it comes amid growing public health concerns about alcohol consumption. In 2023, the World Health Organization stated that no level of alcohol consumption is safe, warning that even minimal intake can increase the risk of serious health conditions.
