ROANOKE, Va. — The Hotel Roanoke is now home to Virginia’s top cocktail, following a win at the inaugural Virginia Cocktail Games in 2024. The award-winning creation, titled No Place Like Home, was crafted by the hotel’s lead mixologist, Henry Hill, Jr.
Hill, a veteran bartender with deep roots in the community, earned the distinction with a drink inspired by the question: Why do you choose Virginia? Drawing from personal experiences, Hill infused the cocktail with flavors that reflect formative moments and influential figures from his youth.
“Each flavor profile tells a story,” Hill noted in a statement following his win. “The cocktail is a tribute to the people and memories that shaped me — reminders of things we shouldn’t take for granted.”
The No Place Like Home cocktail will be featured at The Hotel Roanoke through September, offering guests a taste of the state’s official best drink and a sip of Hill’s heartfelt homage to Virginia.
