HONG KONG — A prized collection of fine wine owned by Hong Kong billionaire Joseph Lau garnered HK$72.9 million (US$9.3 million) at auction, with select bottles of rare French vintages fetching more than US$41,000 each.
Christie’s, the auction house handling the sale, confirmed in a statement on Thursday that every lot was sold, significantly surpassing the initial pre-sale estimate of US$4.5 million.
The strong results underscore the enduring demand for elite wine labels among collectors, particularly those sourced from prestigious French vineyards.
