Hitejinro, South Korea’s leading beverage manufacturer, announced on Tuesday that it will raise the prices of its flagship beer products later this month in response to rising raw material costs.
Effective May 28, the company will increase the retail prices of its popular beer brands—Hite, Terra, and Kelly—by an average of 2.7 percent, according to a statement released by Hitejinro. The company cited a weakened Korean won as a key factor driving up costs for raw materials, logistics, and manufacturing.
This will be the company’s first price hike since November 2023.
However, certain products will remain unaffected by the price increase. Canned beers in 500-milliliter sizes, along with low-malt FiLite beers, will maintain their current prices in an effort to minimize the financial impact on consumers.
