Iron Hill Brewery has earned recognition at the 2025 World Beer Cup, securing two prestigious awards. The brewery, with a location in Lancaster City, won silver for its Berliner-style wheat beer, East Side Gallery, and bronze for The Cannibal, a Belgian-style blonde ale, both of which were brewed at Iron Hill’s Exton facility.
The Cannibal holds particular significance for the brewery, as it was the signature beer of brewer Chris LaPierre, who passed away last year. The beer, with a 7.8% ABV, earned a silver medal and has a 3.69 out of 5 rating on Untappd. It is available for purchase in cans at all Iron Hill locations.
However, East Side Gallery, which was part of the brewery’s IHBeer Club program last year, is not currently available, according to Emily Cummins, account director at Food Shelter PR.
Iron Hill Brewery’s success was part of a broader celebration of Pennsylvania brewing, with two other local breweries also earning awards. Late Addition Brewing + Blending in Pittsburgh won silver for Daisy Lampkin, a smoked beer, while Two Frays Brewery, also based in Pittsburgh, claimed silver for So Long, London, an English mild or bitter.
The awards were announced at the Craft Brewers Conference in Indianapolis on Thursday. A panel of judges from 37 countries evaluated 8,375 beers to determine the winners, according to the Brewers Association.
In a lighter note, actor William H. Macy did not select The Cannibal during his visit on April 28. Instead, he paired a Wunderbier with Moroccan salmon.
