Vancouver Bartenders to Compete in El Tequileño Reposado Cocktail Challenge

Vancouver’s top bartenders will face off in an exciting competition next week at Cuchillo on May 20th from 1-4 p.m. for the El Tequileño Reposado Cocktail Challenge, part of the Tequila and Agave Festival. The event will feature a selection of the city’s finest mixologists, tasked with creating a cocktail that best represents the character and qualities of El Tequileño tequila.

Judges will be evaluating the cocktails based on balance, originality, depth, and aroma. With just six minutes to craft four identical cocktails, the competition will challenge bartenders to showcase their skills while highlighting the true essence of the tequila. No gimmicks will be allowed—El Tequileño must shine as the star ingredient.

The stakes are high, as the winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Guadalajara, Mexico, where El Tequileño has been crafted since 1959. The prize includes two round-trip tickets, along with a three-night stay at the Casa Salles Hotel Boutique in the heart of Tequila, Mexico, an area renowned for its agave fields and volcanic spring water used in the tequila-making process.

The competition’s winner will be announced during the Tequila and Agave Festival’s Trade Tasting event on May 24th, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Italian Cultural Centre. With tickets for the event selling quickly, tequila enthusiasts are encouraged to secure their spots as soon as possible.
