by Kaia

A long-established brewery in Stoke-on-Trent is marking the city’s 100th anniversary with a specially crafted ale that pays tribute to its rich heritage. Titanic Brewery, located in Burslem, has partnered with Stoke-on-Trent City Council to produce a limited-edition beer in honour of the city’s centenary.

The commemorative brew, Century Anniversary Ale, is a traditional amber ale with an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 4.7%. It will be available in bottles, cans, and on cask in pubs throughout Staffordshire. The beer’s branding features the iconic bottle kilns synonymous with The Potteries, celebrating the city’s cultural and industrial history.

A portion of proceeds from the sale of the ale will be donated to the Titanic Brewery Foundation, which supports charitable initiatives across the region.

The Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Councillor Lyn Sharpe, visited Titanic Brewery to participate in the launch of the new beer, joining head brewer Will Bott during the initial brewing process. The one-day brewing session combined water, hops, malted barley, and yeast—the four fundamental ingredients of beer—before being left to ferment over several days.

Councillor Sharpe, reflecting on her past experience as a tour guide at the brewery, emphasised the importance of Titanic Brewery in the city’s narrative. “Stoke-on-Trent’s brewing heritage has played a proud role in our first 100 years, and this ale is a fantastic way to toast our centenary,” she said. “The designs on the pump clips will ensure pubgoers across the region are reminded of this historic milestone.”

David Glenwright, representing Titanic Brewery, expressed pride in the collaboration. “We are genuinely honoured to be working with the city council to produce this commemorative ale, celebrating both the city’s centenary and our own 40th anniversary,” he stated.

Founded in 1985 by John Pazio, Titanic Brewery was built on the vision of creating quality beer to unite local communities. While the brewery’s reach has expanded globally, its roots remain firmly in Stoke-on-Trent.

“Stoke-on-Trent’s 100th Anniversary is a momentous occasion,” Glenwright added, “and we’re excited to raise a glass of Century Anniversary Ale to celebrate the enduring spirit of this incredible city and its people.”
