A Young Distillery with a Bold Vision

Founded in 2010, TX Whiskey has quickly made a name for itself in the competitive American whiskey scene. Now located on a former golf course just outside downtown Fort Worth—known as Whiskey Ranch—the distillery launched its first blend in 2012. Over the years, it has expanded its offerings to include premium in-house bourbons and barrel-strength whiskeys.

In 2019, TX Whiskey joined global spirits company Pernod Ricard, aligning itself with other top-tier American whiskey brands such as Jefferson’s Bourbon and Rabbit Hole Distillery.

Aged Seven Years: TX Whiskey’s Longest Matured Release

The new release, officially titled the Seventh Anniversary Edition, is the 12th entry in TX Whiskey’s Experimental Series. It’s a seven-year-old Bottled in Bond bourbon, making it the oldest whiskey the distillery has ever released.

Master Blender Craig Blair emphasized the release’s significance in a statement:
“While our experimental releases have explored new avenues and pushed boundaries, the 7th Anniversary whiskey is a testament to our roots—a sophisticated representation of where we started and where we’re headed.”

Bottled in Bond: A Classic American Whiskey Standard

This new bourbon was distilled in 2018 during the early stages of production using TX Whiskey’s large still. It was then filled into new charred oak barrels and aged for seven years.

As a Bottled in Bond whiskey, it adheres to strict U.S. regulations:

  • It must be the product of one distillery and one distilling season.

  • It must be aged for at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse.

  • It must be bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV).

The bottling format is 350ml, and only 1,700 bottles are available.

Tasting Notes: A Rich and Refined Texas Bourbon

While formal tastings are yet to be held, official notes suggest a well-rounded and flavorful profile.

On the nose: vanilla, caramel, toasted pecans, and red apples.

On the palate: crème brûlée, black cherry, and warm oak spice.

These elements aim to capture the bold and innovative character TX Whiskey has developed at Whiskey Ranch over the past seven years.

Release Event and Availability

The Seventh Anniversary Edition will be available later this month exclusively at Whiskey Ranch, with a suggested retail price of $40 per bottle (350ml).

To celebrate, TX Whiskey will host a special release party at the ranch on Saturday, April 26. The event will include live music, food vendors, and tastings of the new whiskey.

For those unable to attend, TX Whiskey’s Core Series is currently available online through retailers such as ReserveBar. Select previous Experimental Series releases may also be found online, although often at higher prices due to limited availability.

TX Whiskey: Leading the Way in Texas Bourbon Innovation

The Seventh Anniversary Edition shows that TX Whiskey is not only looking to the future but also honoring its past. As Texas continues to rise in prominence within the American whiskey landscape, TX Whiskey is proving that its bold, locally-inspired approach can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with more established names.
