Official figures reveal that exports of wines bearing the D.O. Navarra label to Denmark rose by an impressive 172% over the past year, surpassing 130,000 liters. In response to this surge, the Board hosted a business-focused gathering at an upscale gastronomic venue in central Copenhagen, aimed at fostering direct trade relationships and enhancing brand visibility.

The event drew a targeted audience of Danish wine professionals, including importers, buyers, sommeliers, and journalists. Seven prominent wineries from the Navarra D.O. took part—Bodega Inurrieta, Bodegas Marco Real, Bodega Otazu, Quaderna Vía, Señorío de Sarría, Tandem, and Pago de Larrainzar. Each presented their portfolios, shared their winemaking philosophies, and participated in tastings and business-to-business meetings.

The event received strong engagement, with participants showing keen interest in the diversity and quality of the offerings. Organizers described the reception as highly encouraging, suggesting a promising trajectory for Navarra wines in the Danish market.

Although Denmark has not historically ranked among the top destinations for Navarra exports, recent growth figures indicate increasing consumer demand. In light of this trend, the Regulatory Board selected Copenhagen as a strategic venue, citing Denmark’s relatively open import environment and its position as a gateway to the Nordic region.

Puy Trigueros, manager of the Regulatory Commission, highlighted Denmark’s wine-friendly culture and its restaurants’ openness to international selections as key factors behind the initiative. She emphasized the importance of fostering direct connections between producers and local importers to establish a stable and sustainable export channel.

Trigueros also expressed optimism about the initial outcomes of the event and indicated plans for continued engagement in the region. The initiative aligns with Navarra’s broader strategy to support wineries in expanding into global markets and tapping into emerging opportunities in international wine consumption.

The promotional mission was supported by the Government of Navarra and financed through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. Organizers underscored the need for sustained investment in global marketing to strengthen Navarra’s standing as a leading Spanish wine-producing region.
